Bawon is a great wee Chinese takeaway located in Ballyholme Village, it's only about 5 minutes from my brothers house so when I visit it's our Chinese takeaway of choice. Delivery is always very quick but not too quick, sometimes you get a bit suspicious of Chinese restaurants who deliver too quickly but this one takes just about the right amount of time to be prompt but not make you worry that your food has been pre cooked. Freshness is definitely a trait of this Chinese. My dish of choice is always shredded honey chili chicken and Bawon make it to perfection - funny thing is that I walked past the other day and I could smell it cooking in the kitchen and had a massive craving for it. I just about suppressed my desire for it but writing this is bringing all those feelings up again!
Delivery drivers are always really courteous and importantly they seem to know their way around Bangor and in particular the Ballyholme area. You don't have to order your food over the phone, you can also walk in but expect a short wait. Overall I am a fan of Bawon - as others have mentioned Bangor is a competitive Chinese Takeaway market and Bawon definitely holds it's own. -

I was excited for Bawon when I heard it was opening just 2 minutes from my house. I was even more excited when I heard it was one of the best tasting Chinese food take-aways in Bangor. The problem is, they had that title for a year or so, then I'm not sure what happened, but it sort of slipped a bit. It still is a great Chinese, maybe not just the best in Bangor anymore. Also, if you want prawn crackers with your order, you have to ask for them as they don't put them in automatically. But hey.

The food was nice enough. Nothing special really but did the job. Disappointed that between four people we got 9 prawn crackers. I know it's a free extra so you shouldn't complain but it's still a negative mark against this place that they had to be rationed amongst us.

Not a bad spot and handy for the local just outside bangor! Cash only is a bit annoying but with a cash machine a short distance across the road its nit that bad! The grub itself is ok nothing special but certainly hit the spot. Would love to know what they were talking about behind the counter as i didnt understand a thing and no prawn crackers was annoying!!
